Education
I earned my bachelors degree in Computer Science (emphasis on Java) at Brigham Young University (Provo, Utah), in 2003. Before that, I went to high school and spent my childhood on the west coast (Santa Cruz, CA). The most fun of all though, was the two years I spent working and living in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which taught me a lot I could never have learned in any other way.
Experience
Since I graduated I've been a career Java developer, with the exception of a 2 year break a few years ago when I tried out management. I came back to the trenches as a Sr. Java Developer because I love to code. This is important because I'm not an Academic. I'm a real live "in the field" software developer who can discuss things in simple terms that my grandma could understand.
